I get by with a little help from my friends...& neighbors
Who doesn't like a good Beatles song?! This songcame to mind when one Rice Military resident, Phyllis Thomason, came up with an idea for helping out our friends and neighbors, and at the same time keeping the area looking nice. Sometimes we may have neighbors whose yards look a little unkempt. Phyllis noticed that sometimes this wasn't due to the person not caring but the fact that the person was often elderly or for some reason was unable to do the yard work. Do you have any neighbors like this? If so, Phyllis thought it would be a great idea to maybe knock on their door and ask if they would like a bit of help with their yard? I bet 9 times out of 10 these people would welcome any help offered! They probably realise their yard needs work, but can't do it and if you offer to quickly run your lawn mover over their yard, then where is the harm in that (with permission of course!). If you know of a neighbor like this maybe, as the weather starts to cool off, now would be a great time to knock on their door. Not only will your neighbor be extremely grateful but it also means you won't have to look out at their untidy yard everyday!
